Not only will you hone your skills in the engine room, you’ll also learn to manage a vessel’s stability, manage refuelling and how to maintain machinery and structural components. The MED 1 qualification will allow you to act as a Chief Engineer on a vessel with propulsion power up to 1500kW or as a Second Engineer on a vessel with propulsion power up to 3000kW in the Exclusive Economic Zone.
