Enhance your skills as a Coxswain Grade 1 with this specialised skill set. Upgrade your existing skills and gain the required competency to operate marine VHF radio and telephone equipment to communicate and transmit information to other vessels and to shore.
This course will equip you with the specialised knowledge and skills required to apply for a Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) issued by the Office of Maritime Communications (OMC).

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Students must be 16 years of age, have a minimum of year 10 with a sound achievement in English and Mathematics or the equivalent, or gain mature age entry.
Statement of Attainment
You will require a notebook and pen for theory components.
Attire is to be of current industry standard with enclosed footwear to be worn at all times.
Upon receiving your statement of attainment you can apply to the OMC for a Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP). There is a fee payable to the OMC.
