This online course is one of the components required to obtain an AMSA issued Certificate of Safety Training, and covers maritime security policy and responsibilities, threat identification, recognition and response, ship security actions and emergency preparedness. It is mandatory for all seafarers with AMSA certificates to hold Security Awareness endorsement.

Follow vessel security procedures
SAT is required under recent International amendments, and has been mandatory since 1st January 2014. This course complies with Table A-VI/1-1, 1-2, 1-3 and 1-4 of STCW 78 as amended, and is approved by AMSA.
There are no entry requirements for this course, however the minimum age requirement is 16 years.
This unit is to be completed online through Connect Learning Management System. Students will have 4 weeks from enrolment date to complete online unit.
It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland’s online learning system, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
