This course provides the knowledge and skills for trainers to administer, supervise, and assess training and learning facilitated using simulators. The course content is based on IMO Model Course 6.10 – Train the simulator trainer and assessor, and meets the requirements of STCW Regulation I/6, STCW Code A-I/6 and STCW Regulation I/12, STCW Code A-I/1.

In addition to having basic knowledge of computer systems and IMO Regulations, participants should have also complied with section A-1/6.4.1-2 of the STCW Code.
Full time over 3.5 days.
Participation in theory sessions, simulation exercises, role playing and class discussion.
Upon completion of the course, participants will have developed a conceptual understanding of the importance of maritime simulator training with a view of the human element in shipping and the unique working environment on board a ship. Furthermore, participants will develop skills to design, plan and facilitate simulator-based training programs, including conducting exercises and briefing / debriefing. Through utilisation of a simulator to its maximum potential, this course aims to enhance the professional development of seafarers.
Upon successful completion, GBRIMC will issue to participants a Train the Simulator Trainer and Assessor certificate, which will meet the requirements of IMO Model Course 6.10.
