Long Range Operators Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP) is for operating both Very High Frequency (VHF) or short range radios and Medium Frequency/High Frequency (MF/HF) radios (which are designed for long range transmission).

Transmit and receive information by marine radio
Students must be 16 years of age, have a minimum of Year 10 with a sound achievement in English and Mathematics or the equivalent, or gain mature age entry.
Assessment will include written tests and practical demonstration of skills.
If you intend travelling on offshore coastal voyages, or are applying to a AMSA for Certificate of Competence as a Coxswain, Master <24 or Master <35, you should obtain an LROCP Certificate which incorporates knowledge of both Medium Frequency/High Frequency (MF/HF) Radios, designed for long range transmission, and VHF radios.
